🧑‍🎤 About the Director: Tadashi Nakamura

Tadashi Nakamura is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles, known for his profound contributions to Asian American storytelling through documentary film. Born into a family of cultural pioneers, Tadashi is the son of Robert Nakamura and media artist Karen Ishizuka. He graduated from UCLA with a degree in Asian American Studies and Ethnomusicology and has since built a remarkable career focusing on themes of identity, social justice, and community history.

His past works include the nationally broadcast Jake Shimabukuro: Life on Four Strings (PBS), Mele Murals, and Pilgrimage, which highlights the return of Japanese Americans to the Manzanar internment camp site. Tadashi’s films have been featured at Sundance, SXSW, and numerous international film festivals. He is widely recognized for bridging generational gaps in storytelling and for using film as a tool for empowerment and preservation within the AAPI community.
